Luxury Spanish Apartment for Hire.

The Living Area

The Living Area

Over the years we have seen our investments diversify so, in 2007, we purchased a deluxe apartment on the La Envia Golf & Wellness Resort — a private gated community — just outside of Roquetas de Mar, only 20 minutes from Almeria airport.

We’ve furnished this 2 bedroom ground floor apartment to our own high standards and it features a large veranda, fully equipped kitchen (including washing machine), parking immediately outside or private indoor car park, quality leather corner sofa, quality beds, ceiling fans in all rooms, digital TV, DVD player, use of hotel facilities and much more.

It’s worth mentioning that you will need a car during your stay, as the resort is built into the mountainside overlooking the Mediterranean and is a few minutes drive away from the local amenities.

However, everything is within easy reach (the nearest supermarket is only 5 minutes drive) and you’ll find the beach resorts of Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce (more on these later) just 10-15 minutes away, with Almeria just 20 minutes away.

The times I’m quoting here are literally how long it takes from La Envia to parking up at the beach or town centres.

Our Opinion

As you can see from the video, the La Envia Wellness and Golf Resort Hotel is a true 5 star hotel in every way. It is stunningly decorated and really exudes luxury.

We’ve found them to be most accommodating during our stays in the apartment – which is only a couple of minutes walk away.

They are happy to allow our visitors to use the swimming pools for a small weekly charge and, of course, the use of the spa and gold course are encouraged.

We’ve spent many a happy evening enjoying a few drinks in the hotel bar or in the County Club – where we might enjoy an occasional meal.

However, you should always bear in mind that this is a 5 star hotel and the prices match the rating.

Roquetas De Mar and Aguadulce

Roquetas de Mar

We love the Almeria coast, it’s a gem of the Mediterranean with hidden beaches, national parks, miles and miles of beautiful coastline and, thanks to the shelter of the Sierra Nevada, its own micro climate – making it one of the warmest, sunniest and driest areas of the Spanish Mediterranean.

Roquetas

The first place you’ll be likely to discover when you visit our apartment is Roquetas De Mar (small rocks of the sea). The town is well developed and you’ll soon find everything you could possibly need. The main part of Roquetas, near the centre and marina, is still largely Spanish but the south of the town is almost exclusive to British tourists.

The rich history, micro climate, beaches and nature are the main attractions of the Almeria coast. In Roquetas de Mar you will find warm Spanish hospitality and a beautiful fishing port where fresh fish is still delivered daily by local fishermen. There is a theater, a bullring, an aquarium, a water fun park, and much more worth visiting!

If you like to visit a market, each day of the week near Roquetas you will find one bustling with life.

If sport is your thing, you’ll also love it here. The beach promenade stretches from the nature park of Roquetas as far Aguadulce. That’s 13 km of promenade for you to walk, run, cycle or skate along with an abundance of pleasant sea front bars and restaurants where you might call in fr a refreshing drink, a bite to eat, or just to watch the world go by.

Of course, if water sports are your thing there is a whole host of activities for you. Whether it be sailing or jet-skiing, swimming or scuba diving, the Mediterranean Sea of Roquetas has it all.

Aguadulce

Aguadulce MarinaOur little haven is the beach of Aguadulce, adjacent to its marina. Here you’ll find the perfect spot to set up your parasol for the day, on an idyllic beach where the sea is calm and shallow, just yards from the bars but in a more quiet location than Roquetas its self. The beach features a disabled area and a kids’ play area so there’s something for everyone on this super stretch.

As we’ve already mentioned, the promenade of Aguadulce and Roquetas stretches some 13km from end to end, so you can stroll to your heart’s content with the azure blue waters of the beautiful Mediterranean Sea constantly lapping at the shore.

Aguadulce is smaller and quieter than Roquetas but still a hive of activity during the season. Off season it is much more relaxed and has a more exclusive feel.

Almeria

Beautiful Almeria

Beautiful Almeria

Almeria has hot summers and warm winters; it has one of the sunniest, warmest and driest climates in Europe, experiencing the warmest winters of any European city with a population over 100,000, and hot and dry summers with no rain between June and September.

Famous for its Alcazaba castle – the second largest of Andalusia’s Moorish castles after the Alhambra – Almeria is an ancient city featuring a large harbour and is a wonderful place to spend a day out.

Steeped in history, Almeria been an important port since being founded in 955 AD, reaching its peak during the Moorish occupation of the region. The city has experienced much change over the centuries and this is reflected in the architecture and the people.

Almeria seems to strike a wonderful balance between the old and the new, with lots of narrow winding streets, historical buildings and points of interest to discover.

The Rambla of Almeria

The Rambla of Almeria

The city centre is bisected by the beautifully designed ‘Rambla’ where you can take a stroll up a beautiful palm lined avenue. Whilst you do so, you’ll take in a variety of fountains and sculptures; and perhaps stop to enjoy a coffee as you leisurely make your way along enjoying the beauty of the city in the warmth of the Mediterranean sunshine.

It’s plain that someone really took care in designing this lovely area of the city; Almeria seems to blend the old and the new with a stunning precision we have rarely seen – something perfectly illustrated by the contemporary Museum being built right next to the ancient Cathedral.

There are lots of sights to see in Almeria – both historical and modern – with architecture spanning over 1200 years; the Muslim influence of the Moors is plain to see in many areas, not least the Alcazaba and the Cathedral – which was originally a Mosque – but also throughout the ‘Old Town’ which is a fusion of Spanish and Arabic designs.

Almeria Sunset

Almeria Sunset

Almeria really is one of the hidden gems of Spain, often being overlooked in in favour of more famous cities, but it really is a great place for those looking to get off the beaten track and discover something a bit different from ‘the norm’. The unique micro climate adds to the appeal, virtually guaranteeing sunny skies every day of the year, beautiful sunsets over the sea, and perfect weather for sightseeing.

Visit Almeria, you won’t be disappointed!
